UAE to Build 1900-Kilometer Underwater Railway to India
The UAE continues to astonish the world with its ambitious projects. This time, the UAE is investing billions of dollars to construct an underwater railway, offering a unique opportunity to travel underwater by train.
The UAE is renowned for its extraordinary architectural achievements, including the world’s tallest building, the largest man-made island, and a gigantic observation wheel. Now, a massive underwater railway connecting El-Fujairah and Mumbai, India, will be added to this list.
The railway, approximately 1900 kilometers long, will run along the coast of the Arabian Sea. High-speed trains will traverse this route, reducing travel time between the two cities to just two hours, faster than air travel. The railway will serve both UAE and Indian citizens, as well as tourists and workers. There are also plans to introduce freight trains.
The project is undertaken by the UAE’s National Consultative Bureau. Although it is in the early stages of development, it promises numerous remarkable features. Some sections of the tunnel will have transparent windows, allowing passengers to enjoy breathtaking underwater views during their journey.
The initial cost of the project is estimated to be over 1 billion dollars. It is challenging to predict the total cost and completion timeframe, but engineers anticipate that the project will take no less than 7 to 10 years.
This underwater railway is set to become a signature project for the UAE and a response to other ambitious regional initiatives. It will demonstrate to the world, including Saudi Arabia, that the UAE remains a leader in construction and innovation.
